Luise Heath...

THE MOST SENSUOUS BLACK WOMAN SINCE LENA HORNE (Show Magazine).....HER SINGING, A HIGHLIGHT (Variety, NYC)….these are just some of the superlatives that have been used to describe the VIVACIOUS and MULTI-TALENTED….LUISE HEATH. Presently a member of Theatre 40 in Beverly Hills. She performed in the West Coast premier of KIN.

LA theatre audiences have also joyed the diverse talents of Ms. Heath as Arlene MacNalley in theGROUPrep production of BABY. As Tracy in the Attic Theatre Production of Ex’s Exes as part of the 17th Annual Denise Ragan Weisenmeyer, One Act Marathon, Luise  was awarded the Audience Choice Award for Best Female Actor. Prior to this production Luise was seen by LA audiences in the celebrated production of National Pastime, in her critically acclaimed portrayal of Mallie Robinson, the mother of Jackie Robinson and in the role of Rosie in the world premier of Brother Albright’s Hallelujah Gospel Family at the Hudson Ave. Theatre in Hollywood. For the celebrated Towne Street Theatre, audiences enjoyed  Luise as she essayed the role of the 90 year old “Seer Gloria” in the premier production of Haints, Conjurmen and Leavings.  Luise also created the role of Nova in the critically  acclaimed production of  The Ghost of Nova North. She has performed in the Ahmanson Theatre productions of The Devil’s Disciple in the role of Essie and also in a revival of The Best Man. Theatre goers have been treated to the diverse musical and dramatic talents of Ms. Heath, Internationally, on Broadway, and off Broadway. Some memorable productions have included Carman Jones, The Last Sweet Days of Isaac, The River Niger, 1600 Pennsylvania and Ragtime Blues and the ground breaking, Black Quartet. Repertory companies have included the Arena Stage in Washington D.C, Eugene O’Neil Memorial Theatre Center and the NEC, in NYC. Working under the direction of Sir Peter Hall, Jose Ferrer, Malik Gaines, William Hammerstein and Judy Ann Elder have proven to be life expanding experiences.

Some of the many TV shows and MOWs that audiences have enjoyed Luise’s comedic and dramatic talents are Bothers and Sisters, General Hospital, The Bold and The Beautiful, My Wife and Kids, Family Matters, 227, A Different World, Cagney & Lacy and Mockingbird Don’t Sin.

 

A native New Yorker, Luise attended the Juilliard School of Music and Howard University.      

                                                                                           

A well known cabaret performer, Ms. Heath has a following both in New York and Los Angeles and as the face of the Baby Boomer generation, Luise is recognizable n commercial and print promotions.

Luise has also carved out a new career as director’s assistant for several LA theatre companies.
